A 2012 exhibition Maria Callas, una donna, una voce, un mito (a woman, a voice, a myth) captures Maria Callas’s eminence as a style icon perfectly. Housed in the beautifully, frescoed rooms of Mantua’s Palazzo Te, the exhibition featured opera costumes, her own clothing and jewelry, recipes, letters, and favorite accessories such as feathered fans. Bruno Tosi, curator of the exhibition, purchased many of the pieces at auction because “Maria Callas was not just a legend opera singer but also a woman with an exceptional wardrobe.” All the photos below are from the exhibit.
